Mikal hopes to find a better sense of community and belonging by moving from her home town Paris to Bolzano, a smaller city in the Italian Alps. However things turn out more complicated than expected as she discovers that this place itself also struggles with identity issues as a consequence of a violent historical ethno-linguistic conflict. ​
