About me
Mikal Postel-Vinay is the owner and founder of RLJ Film. She has a dual passion and education: on the one hand visual storytelling (from theatre to film and mime) and on the other hand, complex societal issues and the social sciences. Her ambition is to connect her main two passions and, through visual media, make alternatives to the status quo visible, to contribute to the public debate.
She followed a practical training at the ZeLIG School for Documentary in Italy, after studying Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE) at the University of Amsterdam and earning a Master’s degree in Law at SOAS in London, with a focus on non-Western legal systems (such as Islamic financial law and the Buddhist constitution of Thailand). She gradually developed a strong curiosity for theories and practices which reveal an alternative story to the dominant narrative. In particular, she has been on a quest for alternatives to the mainstream neoliberal status quo and is active since 2018 in the worldwide movement Rethinking Economics, of which she is now member of the Dutch senior board.
