About RLJ Film
Mikal Postel-Vinay (1996, France) is the owner and founder of RLJ Film, an Amsterdam-based film production company. She has a dual passion and education: on the one hand visual storytelling (from theatre to film and mime) and on the other hand, complex societal issues and the social sciences. Her ambition is to connect her main two passions and, through visual media, make alternatives to the status quo visible, to contribute to the public debate and social change.
She followed a professional training at the ZeLIG School for Documentary in Italy, after earning her Bachelor’s in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE) at the University of Amsterdam and a Master’s in Law at SOAS in London, with a focus on non-Western laws (major in Islamic financial law). She developed a strong curiosity for theories and practices which reveal an alternative story to the dominant narrative. In particular, she is on a quest for alternatives to the economic status quo and is active since 2018 in the worldwide movement Rethinking Economics. This quest is a recurring theme in her visual storytelling work.
